Bar owners beware when driving to or back home from your bar new driving licence laws Spain Mallorca

New motoring legislation came into force on May 1st new laws change when driving here in Spain which substantially increases the penalties which courts can impose for the offence of driving without an appropriate driving licence, such as immediate detention and up to six months in jail. The traffic department estimates there are around a 500-600 unlicensed drivers driving on the island  of Mallorca and local police are now instructed to detain anyone who cannot produce the correct licence document. The order to detain drivers immediately also applies to those who do not possess the appropriate licence for the vehicle being driven. It doesn’t apply to those found to be driving on a driving licence after losing all their penalty points or to those who cannot produce their driving licences on demand or those driving on a licence issued by another EU country outside of Spain. which has expired or which is not backed up by a medical certificate. Drivers holding non-EU licences are also exempt provided that they are still within six months of having arrived in Spain's regions. Mallorca is still one of the best if not the best place  to live in Spain with laid back parking laws and it being a low crime island in the blue Mediterranean sea This place has low or cheap taxes and business laws and a great standard of living for those who work hard at their business in the sun shine 305 days a year hot sunshine cool drinks.Laws are not there to be broken or disregarded.
